Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you're just beginning your therapy journey or you're already well on your way, it's natural to have questions when beginning to work with a new therapist. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions, but if you don't see yours listed, feel free to ask it in an email.
What Does Therapy Look Like?
For many people, "therapy" brings to mind couches, dream analysis, and a therapist sitting in the corner taking notes or asking "How does that make you feel?" While my office does have a couch, things have changed quite a bit in the 100+ years since Freud came on the scene.
We'll begin with an intake session where we'll take time to get to know each other. This first session will feel the most "traditional" in that I'll be asking questions and taking notes. I'll ask you about what's bringing you in, your background, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. We'll use your responses to set goals for therapy and a build a plan for moving forward.

Subsequent sessions will feel much more natural. In each 55 minute session, we'll have real, down-to-earth conversations. I'll ask thoughtful questions, sometimes gently challenge you, and always hold space for whatever you bring in. Some days might feel deep or emotional; other days might feel lighter, more focused on problem-solving or reflection. You don't need to come in with everything figured out; we'll figure it out together. You get to set the tone.
Who Do You Work With?
All are welcome here. I work with individuals, couples, and families from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where people of all identities feel seen, respected, and supported. I'm here to meet you with care and acceptance, exactly as you are.

While I see clients with a wide range of needs, I have particular experience supporting people navigating self-esteem challenges, anxiety, life transitions, and performance-related concerns, including sports therapy. Whatever brings you in, we'll work together to create a space that feels supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your unique goals.
Is There Anyone You Don't Work With?
Generally, I don't work with clients seeking individual therapy who are under 13 years of age. That being said, in family sessions, all ages are welcome.

Additionally, I am licensed in Washington State and, therefore, I can only work with clients who are physically located within Washington, even for virtual/telehealth sessions.
How Much Does Therapy Cost?
Do You Take Insurance?
I believe that therapy is healthcare and should be accessible to everyone, which is why I work with a wide range of insurance providers. Individual costs may vary depending on your insurance or if you'd prefer to pay out-of-pocket. Check out my Services page for rates and accepted insurance providers.
How Often Will I
Attend Therapy?
The frequency of therapy depends on your needs, goals, and life circumstances. Many clients come weekly, while others attend every other week or once a month. We'll decide together what pace feels right and can adjust as things evolve.
When Will I Know That I Am "Done" With Therapy?
Exiting therapy - or being "done" - looks different for everyone. Therapy isn't meant to last forever. We'll work toward the goals you set in our early sessions and check in along the way. When you feel more grounded, supported, or ready to handle things on your own, we'll talk about winding down and exiting therapy in a way that feels thoughtful and empowering.
Do You Offer In-Person and Virtual Sessions?
Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. I know life is busy, so I'm happy to meet you wherever you are. Some clients prefer meeting in-person at my office located in Tukwila's business district, while others prefer the flexibility of meeting virtually. If you typically prefer meeting in-person but need to switch to virtual occasionally, just let me know with a bit of advance notice. I'm happy to be flexible when life happens.
Please note that Washington State Law requires you to be physically located in Washington State, even for virtual sessions. If a trip takes you outside of the state, let me know at least 24 hours before your session, and I'll be happy to reschedule you free of charge.
Is What I Share In Therapy Confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share in our sessions stays between us. It's important that you feel safe, respected, and supported in being open and honest. For virtual sessions and for storing client notes, I use SimplePractice, a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your privacy.

There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality. I'm required to take action if there is a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, or if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or dependent adult. I may also be required to share information if ordered by a court. If any of these situations arise, I'll always do my best to talk with you first and handle the situation with care and transparency.

Please note that when working with teens seeking individual therapy who are aged 13 or older, Washington State law allows them to consent to their own mental health treatment, which includes the right to confidentiality. That said, I value family involvement and, with client consent, will work to keep caregivers informed and supported in ways that respect the teen's privacy while also strengthening family connection.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes you need to change or cancel an appointment. While I'm sensitive to unexpected changes, I believe in maintaining a culture of mutual respect for each other's time.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please try to give at least 24 hours' notice. This allows me to rework my schedule and offer the timeslot to other clients who may also need to reschedule. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment will incur a fee equal to the cost of the session. If you cancel with at least 24 hours' notice, I can reschedule you without any charge. Or we can simply plan on meeting at your next scheduled session.

If I ever need to cancel, I will do my best to find a convenient time to reschedule, and you will never be charged a cancellation fee.

Thank you for understanding and helping to make the best use of our time together.
