Meet Aaron

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Hello! I'm so glad you're here. I'm Aaron Abrams, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and founder of Compass North Counseling and Training Service. I offer a supportive and confidential space where individuals, couples, and families can navigate life's challenges and build stronger, healthier relationships. Welcome!

I have my BA in Psychology from Western Washington University and my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. I was born and raised in western Washington; Washington is my home and is at the core of who I am. I'm a fan of all things related to Seattle sports and I still hold out hope for a return of the Sonics. Growing up, I was also an athlete, leading to my interest in Sports Psychology. To this day, in my free time, I play basketball, flag football, volleyball and softball for a variety of teams and skill levels. When I am not in therapy sessions or playing sports, I love hanging out with friends, trying not to get last place at trivia night, and spending time with my wife and our rescue dog, Daisy.

Experienced Guidance Helping You Set Your Own Course

I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist for 5 years during which I have built extensive experience seeing individuals, couples and families. As a therapist, I use a systemic approach that integrates various areas of an individual's life, as well as the other members of the family system. Depending on each client's circumstances, I also use a combination of therapeutic approaches and theories such as: Satir Experiential, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), General Systems, Cybernetics, and Bowenian therapy; I am also a Level 1 Gottman Couples trained therapist. I feel confident in supporting clients through a variety of needs, from developing positive self-esteem in the face of anxiety to navigating familial and romantic relationships to adapting to life transitions and beyond. The nature of my approach is very experiential. I use the day-to-day experiences of clients to collaborate on achieving goals and making long-term changes. In the therapy room, I am someone who is curious, relatable and compassionate towards clients' emotions and experiences. I try to meet clients where they are rather than force my own agenda. While my clients learn from me, I try to learn just as much from them. This is your journey and while I am here to help guide you, my ultimate goal is to help you feel empowered to choose your direction in life.
